Where did the idea for Zapoint come from?
Chris (our founder and CEO) loves the internet - more specifically, he is enthralled with new internet based technologies that improve our every day life.
Chris was immediately drawn to the symbiotic benefits of these newer internet technologies. On one hand, these applications engaged users by offering tools to connect, share, and promote themselves more effectively. On the other hand, marketers could use the underlying repository to gain valuable intelligence about the community of users. Could these models be taken into organizations to improve business processes?
Why not package these new technologies in such a way that they would improve many of the business processes that have historically plagued organizations. And that's "za-point".
Focused on building a community around employee career planning and learning, Zapoint continues to grow in popularity among HR professionals and employees.
2006: Zapoint was founded in March, 2006.
2008: The first enterprise application prototype was delivered.
2009: First commercial version of Zapoint SkillsMapper, our flagship enterprise talent management service, is launched.
2010: Zapoint acquires Jobster.
How is Zapoint built?
Our technology is secure, reliable and flexible.
Our servers are powered by Linux and maintained for excellent performance and availability. We use several scalable database systems, and most of our code is written in Ruby on Rails - a highly versatile framework that gives us excellent code turnover.
On the client end, a judicious mix of Flash and Javascript stand behind our Web 2.0 label. We believe in using the right tool for every job, so we also employ other programming languages like C++ or Perl.
Using all these technologies we manage to improve our features faster than any other software-as-a-service (SaaS) vendor on the market.
Who is Zapito?
It was once said, Zapito was a nobleman living on the coast in Venice Beach, California. His whereabouts today are unknown, but there have been eye witness accounts of appearances in many metropolitan cities across Europe and North America.
Underneath his black mask is an vigilante of sorts - one who defends the professional against tyrannical talent management systems. His credo is to embrace and engage working professionals with knowledge and information, so they can move onward and prosper in their careers. Not only is he much too cunning and foxlike for the bumbling enterprise software vendors to catch, but he delights in publicly humiliating those same foes.
ok... truth be told.... Zapito is our icon. Think of him as our own Avatar.

To minimize our cumulative environmental effects, we are a "Green Certified Site". Our website's total energy consumption is measured and then, audited renewable energy is purchased from wind and solar farms to neutralize our carbon footprint.
