Payroll Accountant
We are currently seeking a Payroll Accountant for our client in Colonie, NY. This is a direct hire, permanent opportunity working with a growing organization!
Roles and Responsibilities:

Perform the day to day processing of payroll transactions to ensure staff is paid in an accurate and timely manner. Main activities:
• Independently manage and account for payroll tax reporting and payroll disbursements using JD Edwards and ADP
• Prepare reconciliation of payroll, tax and benefit general ledger accounts
• Reconcile JD Edwards system to ADP system and process adjustments as needed
• Train employees on JD Edwards time entry system
• Process manual payroll checks and interim payroll cycles
• Assist in the setup of benefit plans in the JD Edwards system
• Budgeting/Forecasting for Headcount, Salaries and Burden
• Maintain payroll and benefit accruals
• Prepare journal entries for project labor distribution
• Ensure internal controls and processes are followed
• Participate in internal and external audits of payroll department
• Perform third party processing and reporting
• Prepare Workers' Compensation reports
• Process various payroll files including import\export files between benefit, time entry, payroll and accounting systems
• Ad-hoc analysis and reporting
• Assist in payroll issue resolution with IT, and other partners
• Special projects as needed
Qualifications Required Skills/Experience:
• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, and 4+ years’ experience in payroll accounting or similar function
• Experience using JD Edwards (or similar ERP system) and ADP for payroll and accounting purposes
• Ability to work independently and diplomatically, and to maintain confidentiality at all times
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build effective working relationships with all levels of the organization
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to foster strong relationships at all levels
• Strong problem-solving and decision making skills
• Strong aptitude and proficiency in MS Office products; including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
• Strong collaborative team player
• Proactive approach to work
• Conscientious worker with a high level of accuracy
• Strong ability to multi-task with good time management skills
• Strong organizational skills with high degree of attention to detail
• Excellent problem resolution skills
• Ability to provide world class customer service to all levels in the organization

• Must stay current with US and Canada Payroll regulations as well as application of company policy to payroll processes
