A versatile web-based tool that enables individuals to manage their careers; universities to coordinate their alumni communications; and large enterprises to manage the skills and experience within their organizations.
The career management tool quantifies a member’s resume and then displays it visually in a Lifechart™ - that’s where the fun begins. In doing that, a subjective piece of paper is changed into a measurable, objective and interactive tool that represents the true value of the member.
Zapoint is re-defining the online recruitment world and how we use professional networking. It is designed for career-minded individuals, who want to take charge of their job search initiatives, and strategic employers who want to simplify their hiring strategies.
Unlike the same-old-same-old job boards, Zapoint brings together the coolest elements of social networking and career management tools to offer employers and employees the next generation of online recruiting.
Zapoint particularly targets present MBA students, graduates and young professionals who want to take the bull by the horns and control their professional career development.
Glad you asked that – Let’s get to the crux of the problem – RESUMES. If you think about it, resumes are the standard currency of recruitment, but there are so many variations in the marketplace that trading can never be efficient.
Zapoint provides the solution, by quantifying resumes to create a common currency. The benefits of this approach include:
- A standard way of trading, so that resumes can be objectively compared.
- A currency which represents and highlights the real value of the job seeker.
- A way for employers to locate the right candidate in the fastest and most efficient way.
Zapoint lets job seekers enter their resume details, including professional, personal and educational achievements. But rather than let these details languish in a boring document, we generate a patented LifeChart™, which converts your accomplishments into quantifiable format.
The result? A graphical representation of your life, showing your achievements across professional, educational and personal dimensions. Think of the LifeChart™ as your ‘2 second’ resume and it’s just the start of how Zapoint helps you take control of your career.
Zapoint then lets you identify your personal territory by applying location, industry, job description and skills tags. We use both the LifeChart™ and the tags to -stake out- your territory, where you can see how you stack up against your peers. So, if you want to check out other sustainability consultants in Vermont, or see whether there’s a candidate in Little Rock, Arkansas, who has also walked the Kakoda trail, you can with Zapoint!
Finally, with Zapoint you can build a true professional network. This is not just a network composed of your peers, who always give you the thumbs up and say nice things about you. It includes people who help guide you through your career (mentors) and those who look up to you as a coach (mentees).
Absolutely not! How can it be too early to start laying the foundations for a successful career? Hopefully, when you graduate, you’re going to be in demand. You’re already demonstrating your commitment to a successful career in business by deciding to take an MBA.
You have already developed a lot of the skills that you will use in your career, so why not start seeing how they can be applied and how you compare to your peers? You can also use Zapoint to help you identify the areas that you need to develop further to get into your dream career. Who knows, it might even help you make that tricky decision as to which course you’re going to pick next semester, if it helps you get closer to your professional goals.
Obviously people that have already been working for 10 years will have more experience at applying their skills in a professional environment, but not all job vacancies are for seasoned professionals that have been around the block a few times, you know!
Many employers want to get you into the fold fresh out of B-school, so they can train you to be one of the next wave of superstars! With the help of Zapoint 4 Enterprise, they’re going to be able to help you to map out your career path and excel.
With Zapoint, your resume isn’t a static, boring document that employers spend a couple of minutes checking out, before moving on to the rest of the pile, but something that grows and develops with you. Come on - you work hard to accomplish things in life, so don’t let them get buried in the pile! After all, they reflect everything there is to know about you and your value.
Why put your career in the hands of inefficient and plain old-fashioned job boards, when you can take charge of your resume’s future with Zapoint?
Hey, we can’t really knock online job boards can we! Let’s face it they’ve been around in some shape or form for hundreds of years. Of course they have their place, but they’re really designed with the employer in mind.
At the same time, trendy social networking sites do not place connections within contexts that are truly beneficial. Some put the emphasis on the number of connections, rather than the quality, which completely misses the point.
How many people have you spoken to recently who got a job through an online job board? And how much real value do you get from a social networking tool? Zapoint attacks the issues and inefficiencies of today’s job boards and recruiting sites through our career management and professional networking approach. In doing this we have automated the connection between job seekers and recruiters. The days of uploading your resume into a black hole and waiting for the phone to ring are over. Now for the first time you can manage your career path, your network and your life achievements with a single tool.
There isn’t one, and we firmly believe there shouldn’t be for any service provided to job seekers. Too many job boards are charging crazy fees for -resume dress ups- or career advice services. Don’t get fooled again – take control of your resume’s future with Zapoint!
Through your LifeChart™, of course! Research shows that on average recruiters spend only 90 seconds per resume, so you need to make an impact and fast!! The LifeChart™ instantly lets recruiters see your value in the context of what’s important to them and their selection criteria. Remember, you might have some great achievements that you want to share, but don’t expect recruiters to go looking for them.
Top class athletes chart out training regimes that enable them to become world record beaters. Your career is no different, and you need to map out a path that let’s you stay one step ahead of other candidates in your field of expertise. Job boards don’t help here, since they just post your resume or at best charge you for cursory advisement services.
Zapoint is different – since we let you define your own career territory and check how you compare to others within that territory. This comparison helps you to more effectively chart out the path you need to take in order to improve your potential within the job market, and lets prospective recruiters and employers find you on the basis of your value.
This is why it is so critical for you to DEFINE YOUR CAREER TERRITORY. Create a territory that makes sense and reflects your current achievements, skills and career path objectives. Also be sure to leverage Zapoint’s professional networking tool to expand your professional network. Use our alumni function to find alums from your university to share information and opportunities. Lastly, -zap- your resume to companies that sponsor certain career territories.
NOTE - Zapoint 4 Groups (which will incorporate the alumni feature) and Zapoint 4 Recruiters (which will feature the career territories sponsoring feature) are currently being developed by our dedicated team of web wizards.
Absolutely! And this is our favorite part. Unlike other so-called professional networks, Zapoint provides you, the member, with the ability to define the context of your relationships and connections. Most of today’s professional networking sites focus on the number of connections people can accumulate and don’t put connections into context or show relationships. In contrast, Zapoint lets professionals create meaningful and dynamic connections with people senior and junior to them, and lets them maintain those connections as they progress through their careers.
It’s really simple. You can search companies that are advertising open positions from within our search box. You can also search by position type. Each position will provide you with a link where you can -zap- the employer or recruiter directly.
NOTE - Zapoint 4 Recruiters is currently being developed by our dedicated team of web wizards.
Of course! Feedback is one of the cornerstones of success. Creating connections with peers, managers, educators and people from other affiliations will not only help you grow your professional network, but most importantly provide you the basis for professional and personal growth, based on objective feedback and information sharing.
NO! And why should it? Zapoint offsets “valleys” in your professional career by giving you the ability to enter education and personal achievements as historical entries. For example, perhaps at some point in your career you took some time off to complete a graduate diploma, start a family, climb a mountain, or do some voluntary work.
In these cases, the LifeChart™ doesn’t penalize members, it rewards them! After all, growth in life is reflected across many different dimensions.
Isn’t that the icing on the cake? You deserve it after all the hard work you’ve done to get that high paying job via Zapoint. That means a recruiter has reached out to you on our system, which has resulted in your getting that dream job. We want you to celebrate with a weekend away on us. Just let us know you have new job by updating your history and BANG...we’ll do the rest. Not long after you will get a check from us.
This is where the fun begins. While building out your history and objective settings, you can simply -tag- specific skill sets among each historical entry. Not only will this make it easier for employers and recruiters to find you, but it will also give you the basis for defining your career territory. In addition, you will then be able to compare yourself with other members inside similar career territories.
Yes. Protection of confidential information is our number one priority. For more details, please have a look at our privacy policy.
Employers and recruiters alike can search Zapoint, but they will only see your Zapoint resume without your personal information. vWe do this to protect the integrity of the system and most importantly, your privacy. If they wish to get your personal information they will need to set up a relationship at Zapoint in order to download candidates for job placements. And they can only contact you via Zapoint so if you do get a message from someone you feel shouldn’t be contacting you let us know.
NOTE - Recruiters will only be able to contact you after Zapoint 4 Recruiters goes live.
The LifeChart™ represents the peaks and troughs in your life. When you enter information about your professional history and education, our algorithm applies a score. The more education and experience you have, and the more promotions you get, the higher you score. You can then enter LifeChart™ reasoning, to explain the peaks and troughs, to give employers a clear understanding of who you are and what you have achieved.
It means you are in 3rd place! The search results define a territory based on skills, location and achievement. If you are in 3rd place that means number two has exceeded your Zapoint score for that territory. Work hard, set and achieve objectives, grow your mentors and mentees and you will become number one.
Simple. Just log onto Facebook and type Zapoint in the search field. ‘Zapoint Lifechart’ will come up as an application in the search results. Click the blue ‘Zapoint Lifechart’ heading and then click the ‘add this application link’. Bingo, your Lifechart™ will now be visible on your Facebook page.
Great question. Your Zapoint resume is an investment in your future. Just like any savings plan the more you invest now the bigger the payoff. Your Zapoint resume is a living document that will grow with you and you must keep feeding it to remain competitive. Your territory will change constantly as your peers update their resumes. Keep setting yourself objectives, updating you history, managing your network and references, and we promise you will have recruiters coming to you. Even if you don’t want a job, isn’t it nice to be in the game?
What affects your life? We have created an intuitive tool that really replicates where you are in your career. Length of service, promotions, number of skills, quality of references, achieving objectives and hitting personal milestones are all as much part of our algorithm as they are your life. If your Dad would be proud, we will be too!
Definitely. We want you to be our best advocates. If you see a job on another job board, ZAP them your resume and stay ahead of the pack, all of whom will have weird resumes (euuuchhhh!). Just send the recruiter your public resume's permalink (it will look like this - http://www.zapoint.com/resumes/your_zapoint_nickname) and they'll be able to access it online and print it for a more thorough look. Your public resume's permalink will stay the same as long as you don't change your zapoint nickname.
In the colorful boxes below everyone’s name we show three numbers - mentors, peers and mentees. The ratio of mentors to mentees is a very strong indicator of how mature you are in your career. For example, if you have more mentors than mentees you have probably not been in your current career for a very long time. The reverse is true if you have more mentees than mentors.
You can’t. They will request assessments from you and as such will become your mentees. Just like in real life.
Changing career is tough. One way we can help is by allowing you to see how you would stack up in a new territory. If you come 99th out of 100 members then maybe you should question the move, or work out how to acquire the skills you need to enter that territory. This can all be modeled on Zapoint one step at a time.
By adding them as peers after performing a searchh.
Not on Zapoint. Invite them to register on the site and remember to get them to say that you referred then when they sign up.
Well, there are several ways in which Zapoint can continue to work for you after you’ve starting working for your new employer.
Firstly, your school may well be using Zapoint 4 Groups to manage its alumni communications. By keeping your Zapoint profile up to date, your friends and peers from school can see what you’re up to and get in touch with you via the message wall or zmail.
Secondly, your new employer might also have signed up for Zapoint 4 Enterprise, so your goals and appraisals will be conducted via Zapoint. Not only does this mean you have one central database of all your great references and achievements, it also means that your resume is always bang up to date so, when you feel it’s time to move on, you just have to confirm that you’re an active job seeker and Zapoint will put your resume and record of achievement in front of hungry recruiters.
Tags are used to identify the skills the user attributes to each of their historical entries. These are matched with the specified search criteria and affect the member's position within the search results, depending on the duration and frequency of the skill, relative to other members with the same skill.
